Where does the Polish ICT industry stand?

The latest edition of the Computerworld TOP200 report, which analyzes the development indicators of the Polish ICT industry in 2022 and ranks largest IT companies in Poland is ready!

The latest edition of the Computerworld TOP200 report analyzes the development indicators of the Polish ICT industry in 2022. The full report contains more than 60 rankings, including „Largest IT companies in Poland,” which includes 343 entities with revenues of at least PLN 1 million from the sales of IT solutions and services. RITS Professional Services once again submitted to the survey and was ranked sixth in terms in year-to-year revenue dynamics among companies declaring 100% of revenues from sales of IT Services.

According to the report’s authors, the IT industry has traditionally been able to cope with difficult and unpredictable external conditions – in 2022, it grew by 13% to more than PLN 100 billion. While the numbers are good, ICT representatives’ reserves of optimism are shrinking and organizations are expecting a rather modest year. The macroeconomic situation, high inflation and general geopolitical uncertainty have caused such mood of the ICT industry.

Who makes the biggest IT purchases?

Technology solutions have propelled the commercial sector to such an extent that it has dethroned banking. Revenues from the sales of solutions for the sector rose by as much as 29% to PLN 4,009,228,000. Banking is investing more conservatively – its spendings on IT last year increased by 4%, to PLN 3,991,335,000. The top three is closed by public administration, with a 16% increase in purchases.

It is also worth noting the largest year-on-year percentage jumps in spending by the other sectors – as much as 83% growth was recorded by the media industry, 46% by the logistics industry and 33% by IT companies, which at the same time maintained their position just behind the podium in terms of revenue generated by ICT.

What ICT forecasts for 2023?

According to 30% of respondents – the economy this year will be worse, and according to 44% it will remain the same as last year. Only a quarter expects an improvement this year, which is a significant change from the opinion in 2022. At that time, 60% of respondents expected further growth. Nevertheless, companies are optimistic about their future, and this is related to the increase in the value of orders, which is expected by 54% of survey participants. Export results are also positive, with the top 100 largest ICT companies in Poland increasing by as much as 20%, to PLN 9,792,608 thousand. The potential for foreign sales is also seen and enjoyed by RITS Professional Services.

RITS Professional Services in 2022 and 2023 is focused on building a global value proposition approach towards enterprise clients across the world with focus on the US Market and Western Europe, where 95% of our revenue is. We will expand the growth of specialized IT domain services across specific verticals and technologies as well as our capacity in IT Managed Services. We will grow with similar pace in 2023 and invite existing and new customers for more co-operation in the IT challenges they will face in the coming months. We will also announce some interesting IT partnerships towards the end of 2023, so stay tuned for more – says Łukasz Kośnik, CEO RITS Professional Services.

58% of the survey participants believe that the pace of digitization in organizations will decrease, while one-third expects it to increase. Despite this, as the authors of the study note when referring to the overall statistics of digitization of enterprises, it is still impressive. According to Statistics Poland, by 2022, more than two-thirds of companies have already provided employees with remote access to company resources (mainly to company email, documents and applications).

Although the macroeconomic situation and the war in Ukraine have had a huge impact on the economy, despite this, half of the respondents of the current issue of TOP 200 believe that their organizations have not been greatly affected. One-fifth reduced investments because of this and adjusted plans to the uncertain market situation, whereas for 16% – the situation involved a change in their entire operating strategy.

Unchanging shortage of specialists

Talent shortage continues to be one of the biggest challenges faced by IT departments. According to a survey of representatives of companies present in this year’s TOP 200, developers (60% of indications) and security specialists (20% of indications) are the hardest to find – which is directly related to companies’ growing concern about cyber security. Companies are looking for security strategies, the right technologies and employees who can provide them. It is worth mentioning at this point that companies’ revenues from the sales of security solutions, according to the report, grew by 6% year-on-year and totaled PLN 2,063,253,000, which is statistically PLN 42 million per company.

Regardless of the macroeconomic and geopolitical difficulties– the ICT industry is growing steadily, as the survey results indicate. The reason is obvious: IT has become an indispensable ingredient for the development of any business and in difficult times – one of the factors that allows companies to survive.

About the research

The data for TOP200 is collected via an online survey, filled out by representatives of IT, telecom and carrier companies, based on estimations by the editors and analytical data from the IDC center, a sister company of IDG Poland, the publisher of the report.
